I'm hard to please, I was bloody confident you would barely get a Certificate of Merit but you proved me wrong.Well done.You definitely did 4 times better than in practice.



Hold your heads high band.You achieved something from nothing. You're a band Mdm Tan only dreamt of having. It feels good to be cheering with you guys at the carpark (the most unappealling place for a celebreation) and it feels even better seeing people looking at you guys celebrating. (THAT was the ONLY moment I felt that you guys were together as a band.Haha.)

And I saw one tuba player smiling so wide I can see his teeth! I just HAD to take the photo.(Hint:the ONLY tuba player)Hahaha.

well band, all of you did a great job =D

as for me, i can't really hear my bass drum.

YOYO, another senior is posting now. And this blog has changed quite a fair bit. Dropped by to make the blog alive again.

I guess you all have experienced thick and thin and you will expect that all stress you guys are experiencing now will just pay off! I know its just only days with the nerve-wrecking, foreboding feeling of the coming SYF. I think CSSSB lacks the exposure of performing in front of many people - just don't worry about anything else.

Its really what you will work for will pay off - the certificate is very secondary. I really think if success is to be counted in terms of money/certificate/medal worth, the world will be a sad place. Even if you guys will achieve a Certificate of Distinction/merit/participation, you must always realise that the important things in life are what are around you - the spirit of camaraderie amongst you.

SO, what i really feel on that SYF day la- just have fun!!

I feel the band needs not only listen to "RAH-RAH" music like those from composers like "Ed Huckeby", "James Swearingen", or "James Curnow", etc etc. Haha, its really time to move out from these kind of music that are of little value in music appreciation. Explore a variety of genres which I know alot of. Especially from composers like Bert Appermont, Ferrer Ferran, Vaclev Nelhybel, Nigel Clarke, Ottorino Resphigi (which i really feel there are more aesthetical variations in their compositions). And baroque/classical composers like Mozart, beethoven, verdi, vivaldi, Bach, can really just make you go brimming full of inspiration!

P.S, Listening to better Wind/Symphony Orchestra music more will improve your sense of intonation.

coz this post is written by me,
ur senior, Tormimiiiiiiiii.

as a band member once,
it actuali saddens me that
i can neither be physically there
to help nor can i participate in the first place.

ya, im not a good speaker (or writer in this case).
but i jus hope that these words would count, in the long run.

Im very sure that during your days in CSSB,
you probably have learn something that
could have actuali change your life in any way.

Well, getting straight to my point,
in my days in CSSB, part of wat i had learn is,
the true meaning of UNITY.

We can't be united overnight.
It takes time for bonds between
pupils to strengthen.
This might seem contradicting,
but its actuali easy to be united.

in every incident, be it a happy or a disappointing one,
a glimmer of hope, for a chance of unity is always
there for us to grab.

Just a small positive comment or a minor act of concern
goes a long way.

a simple deed of helping to open the door,
helping another band member wash his/her mouthpiece,
even smiling to ur dear bandmates counts.

yes, every casual act of assistance
in these emergency weeks counts in building
up close rapport between every band member.

In these last few weeks,
lets put on the best effort
to practice whatever thats left.

whats a little pain,
compared to the festive
after the BIG DAY?

and better still, with the extra extra extra
hardwork injected in the practices,
imagine thejoy when the words "Certificate of Distinction"
is announced right after our school name.

And just realise, that all of this is POSSIBLE.
It is just up to us Band members.
So the only obstacle between us Band members and the Distinction Cert,
are ourselves.

yes, you are your worst obstruction
to your own goal.

Triple your effort in these few weeks.
And when the moment of truth comes,
we wont be disappointed.

For the upper secondary members,its your last chance, your last shot.
Give it your best.
Surely you want to leave the school
later (or 1-2 years later) knowing that u hv
made the school proud with your sincere contributions
to CANBERRA BAND during the marching assessments.

For the lower secondary members,
though you still have another chance,whatever the outcome during
the big day will greatly influence the
standard of the band in the consecutive years.
So im sure when one of you guys/girls are promoted
to be the drum major or band major next time,
u would like to lead a band full of committed members.
So lets start, NOW. GO!!!

yes, whatever happens,be it positive or negative news after the big day,
it will have a deep impact to the band.
remember, it is inevitable.
If its good news, be happy.
If not, dun be sad, life has its ups and downs.
Move on.

bear it in mind that the most
important thing is, the process
leading up to the BIG DAY itself.

Cherish the moments together.
You will miss it next time.
